At Cactus Images, we get a little giddy about projects where sleek design meets everyday magic —and the instax mini Link+™ smartphone printer fits that bill perfectly. Slim, black, and sporting a pop of striking orange, this printer isn’t just a gadget; it’s a statement piece that fits seamlessly into any environment. Our job? To capture not only its stunning minimalist design but also the features that make it truly unique.

The mini Link+™ isn’t your average smartphone printer. Its linear, geometric casing gives it a modern, graphic edge, while the standout ‘design print’ function delivers perfect results for printing text, detailed illustrations, magazines, posters, and artwork. Our challenge was to show off these qualities through photography in a way that felt stylish, relatable and desireable.
We started by leaning into what we do best: concept creation, creative planning, and set building. To highlight the ‘design print’ feature, we created sets that shows off the printers versatility of functionality. We created a series of lifestyle images, including a mix of design-led artwork backdrops alongside cozy home set builds demonstrated the versatility of the mini Link+™—whether it’s a star in a creative studio or a talking point of someones living room.

Colour played a starring role in this shoot. We opted for warm, rich tones in props and environments to strike the perfect balance: appealing to both masculine and feminine tastes, offering a sense of maturity for the target demographic whilst complementing the printer’s deep black body with vibrant orange pops.
Of course, a product launch isn’t complete without the all-important pack shot imagery. Minimalistic as the printer is, photographing its geometric grooves and subtle de-bossed logo presented a technical challenge. Dynamic lighting was key to capturing these details without losing the sleek, minimal aesthetic. The end result? Shots as polished and precise as the prints the mini Link+™ produces.

Working on the mini Link+™ reminded us why we love photography: it’s all about bringing a product’s personality to life. And in this case, that personality is bold, minimal, and full of possibilities.
